System hang via unchecked EROFS compact index
Published Dec 16, 2025 · Updated Dec 16, 2025
Denial of service in affected Linux kernels allows local users to hang the system by accessing a crafted compressed EROFS image. The z_erofs_load_lcluster_from_disk() path in fs/erofs/zmap.c fails to reject a clusterofs value larger than lclustersize for a non-head logical cluster in a corrupted subpage compact index, so mapping can repeat without advancing. Reaching the flaw requires the kernel to process that malformed index; the observed consequence is an infinite loop and service hang.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
