Local denial of service via firmware memory leak
Published Dec 16, 2025 · Updated Dec 16, 2025
Memory leak in the nouveau firmware code in affected Linux kernel branches allows local users to consume kernel memory during firmware teardown. The nvkm_falcon_fw_dtor function releases other firmware resources but fails to free the allocated nvkm_falcon_fw::boot buffer. Exploitation requires local low-privileged access and execution of the affected nouveau firmware lifecycle; the documented consequence is availability loss from unreleased kernel memory.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
