CVE-2025-68218Network attack vector

Remote storage hang via partition-scan lock cycle

Published Dec 16, 2025 · Updated Dec 16, 2025

Deadlock in Linux kernel NVMe multipath allows remote attackers to hang storage operations via malicious NVMe-oF lifecycle events. Scheduling partition_scan_work on kblockd creates a circular dependency among disk->open_mutex, kblockd completion, and partition-scan completion. A configured persistent NVMe-oF connection is required; confidentiality and integrity impacts are not reported.
