CVE-2025-68201

Kernel panic via user-controlled command-buffer flag

Published Dec 16, 2025 · Updated Dec 16, 2025

Denial of service in Linux kernel 5.19 and later affected branches allows local users to panic the kernel through AMD GPU command submission. The gfx_v11_0_ring_emit_ib_gfx and gfx_v12_0_ring_emit_ib_gfx paths call BUG_ON when an indirect buffer carries the userspace-reachable AMDGPU_IB_FLAG_CE flag. Reachability requires local access to an affected GFX11 or GFX12 AMD GPU path; triggering the assertion stops the kernel rather than exposing or changing data.
