Heap-based buffer overflow in HDF5 1.14.6 allows local users to crash a parsing process with a crafted HDF5 file. A self-referential object-header continuation message causes H5O_protect to accept a mismatched chunk count, underallocate an internal buffer, and overrun it while H5O__fsinfo_encode serializes metadata. The file must be opened by an HDF5-linked process; published evidence demonstrates a crash but not code execution.
