CVE-2025-68119

Local code execution via VCS option injection

Published Jan 28, 2026 · Updated Jan 28, 2026

Command injection in the Go command 1.25.0 through 1.25.5 allows local users to execute code via malicious module version strings. cmd/go passes attacker-controlled version text to Git or Mercurial VCS commands in forms those tools misinterpret as options instead of rejecting leading hyphens or slashes. Exploitation requires explicit use of a malicious version string; Mercurial enables code execution, while Git enables writes to files accessible to the invoking user.
