Administrator Lua execution via restricted CLI escape
Published Jun 9, 2026 · Updated Jun 9, 2026
Unsafe debug access in Fortinet FortiOS and FortiProxy allows authenticated administrators to execute Lua scripts through crafted CLI commands. Fortinet identifies a restricted CLI escape and unsafe debug state but has not disclosed which command handler accepts the crafted input or how Lua is invoked. Reachability requires an authenticated administrator CLI session; successful use escapes the restricted command set and runs attacker-supplied Lua on the appliance.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
- Affected versionversion=6.4.0 <=6.4.16
- Affected versionversion=7.0.0 <=7.0.16
- Affected versionversion=7.2.0 <=7.2.10
