Stored XSS via entity-decoded menu attributes
Published Dec 12, 2025 · Updated Dec 12, 2025
Stored XSS in RuoYi 4.8.1 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to execute script in other users' browsers via menu edits. The /system/menu/edit endpoint stores a crafted menuName, and index.html renders it with th:utext; HTMLFilter leaves entity-encoded quotes intact, which browsers decode into an onerror handler. Menu-modification permission is required, and any user who loads the shared poisoned menu supplies the user interaction needed for script execution.
