Router crash via unbounded password copy
Published Jun 26, 2025 · Updated Jun 27, 2025
Buffer overflow in the HiPER 840G 3.1.1-190328 API allows remote authenticated users to crash the router through a crafted password. /goform/setSysAdm passes passwd1 to strcpy at InstPointByName + 36 without bounding its length, overflowing the stack. A valid management login and network access to the API are required; the public proof of concept demonstrates a denial-of-service crash.
