Stored script execution via unsanitized media folder names
Published Dec 22, 2025 · Updated Dec 22, 2025
Stored XSS in the Media module of Piranha CMS 12.1 allows remote authenticated users to execute script via a crafted folder name. The media-folder workflow stores the Name field without adequate sanitization and renders it in the manager interface, where the payload executes on creation or after Edit and Done. Manager access is required, and interaction with the stored folder entry enables script execution in the affected user's browser.
