Authenticated post metadata modification via missing capability check
Published Jul 18, 2025 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Missing authorization in Block Editor Gallery Slider 1.1.1 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to modify arbitrary posts' metadata. The classic_gallery_slider_options() function writes limited post meta without checking whether the caller has permission to edit the targeted post. A Subscriber-level WordPress account is sufficient, and the impact is limited to unauthorized modification of post metadata.
