Unauthorized external application launch via missing permission checks
Published Jan 23, 2026 · Updated Jan 23, 2026
Improper permissions in ToDesktop Builder before 0.33.0 allow attackers with renderer-context access to invoke external protocol handlers. The renderer-exposed ToDesktop API fails to enforce sufficient permission checks before dispatching requests to open arbitrary URLs in a browser or other external applications. Exploitation requires renderer-context access through malicious loaded content or a separate flaw, plus active user interaction, and permits unauthorized host-side actions.
