Stored XSS via unescaped Forum Name rendering
Published Dec 18, 2025 · Updated Dec 18, 2025
Stored XSS in Simple Machines Forum 2.1.6 allows remote authenticated users to run scripts in visitors' browsers through Forum Name. Stats.template.php inserts the stored Forum Name into the statistics page title without neutralizing executable HTML or JavaScript. Administrative permission is required to save the payload; it executes for authenticated or anonymous visitors who open /index.php?action=stats, enabling actions in a victim's forum session or data disclosure.
