Arbitrary file overwrite via upload finalization race
Published Jan 23, 2026 · Updated Jan 23, 2026
TOCTOU in miniserve 0.32.0 upload finalization allows remote attackers to overwrite files outside the document root through HTTP uploads. After checking the destination path, the persistence routine performs a final copy that follows a replacement symlink to an attacker-chosen path. Exploitation requires uploads to be enabled and the attacker to create or replace filesystem entries in the upload destination, and writes are limited to the service process's permissions.
