Admin credential compromise via unlimited password attempts
Published Jan 8, 2026 · Updated Jan 8, 2026
Improper restriction of authentication attempts in GL.iNet AX1800 firmware 4.6.4 and 4.6.8 allows remote attackers to guess admin passwords. The LuCI authentication endpoint at /cgi-bin/luci accepts unlimited password attempts without rate limiting or account lockout. Access to the router's local network is required, and a successfully guessed password grants access to the administrative interface.
