Application crash via unchecked empty XFA lookup
Published Apr 13, 2026 · Updated Apr 13, 2026
NULL pointer dereference in Nitro PDF Pro for Windows 14.41.1.4 allows attackers to crash the application with a crafted PDF. The XFA processor accepts an empty /XFA array under /AcroForm, receives NULL when locating xdp:xdp, and passes that pointer into the template-node lookup without validation. Exploitation requires the malicious document to be opened and terminates only the Nitro PDF Pro process, interrupting PDF work until the application restarts.
