CVE-2025-6663

Code execution via unchecked H.266 SEI length

Published Jul 7, 2025 · Updated Jul 7, 2025

Stack-based buffer overflow in GStreamer gst-plugins-bad 1.26.0 through 1.26.2 allows attackers to execute code via crafted H.266 video. The H.266 SEI parser copies attacker-controlled subpicture level data into a fixed-length stack buffer without validating its length. A consuming application must process the malicious media; successful exploitation runs code in that application's process, while failed exploitation can crash it.
