CVE-2025-66385Network attack vector

Privilege escalation via self-edit role validation bypass

Published Nov 28, 2025 · Updated Nov 28, 2025

Privilege escalation in Cerebrate before 1.30 allows remote authenticated users to grant themselves an administrator role. UsersController::edit exempted self-edits from its allowed-role check, so a crafted user-edit request could persist an otherwise forbidden role_id. Any authenticated non-privileged account able to edit its own profile can obtain higher privileges, including administrative access.
