Local file disclosure via unrestricted XML entities
Published Nov 28, 2025 · Updated Dec 3, 2025
XXE in Mustang before 2.16.3 allows local users to read files from the host by processing a crafted electronic invoice. ZUGFeRDInvoiceImporter.setDocument creates a DocumentBuilder that accepts document-type declarations and resolves external entities in attacker-controlled XML. Exploitation requires access to submit an invoice to a local Mustang processing context and exposes only files readable by that process.
