Code execution via unvalidated EMF brush object
Published Mar 17, 2026 · Updated Mar 17, 2026
Type confusion in Canva Affinity 3.0.1.3808 allows attackers to execute arbitrary code when a user opens a crafted EMF file. The EMF loader uses an EMR_FRAMERGN ihBrush index to retrieve an arbitrary object, then treats it as a brush without validating its type. Opening the file is required; the resulting uninitialized pointer can crash the application, while controlled memory corruption enables code execution.
