CVE-2025-66269

SYSTEM privilege escalation via unquoted service paths

Published Nov 26, 2025 · Updated Nov 26, 2025

Unquoted service paths in RupsMon and USBMate in Mega System Technologies UPSilon2000 6.0.5 allow local users to gain SYSTEM privileges. Each service runs as SYSTEM but stores its executable path without quotation marks, causing Windows to test earlier space-delimited path components as executables. Exploitation requires write access to one of those earlier directories and service startup, after which attacker-controlled code runs with full service privileges.
