Phishing via unvalidated thumbnail redirect URL
Published Nov 21, 2025 · Updated Nov 21, 2025
Open redirect in Optimizing Matters WP YouTube Lyte 1.7.28 and earlier allows remote attackers to send users to phishing sites via a crafted URL. The public lyteCache.php endpoint reads origThumbUrl from the query string and uses it as a 302 Location target when thumbnail caching is unavailable; affected releases do not adequately validate that target. No authentication is required, but an attacker must persuade a user to follow a crafted link; the redirect can support phishing without changing site data.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
