Unauthenticated admin access via unvalidated Basic credentials
Published Dec 9, 2025 · Updated Feb 26, 2026
Authentication bypass in FreePBX Framework before 16.0.44 and 17.0.1 through 17.0.22 allows remote attackers to access the admin panel. The webserver branch in gui_auth.php trusts PHP_AUTH_USER from a Basic Authorization header and establishes the user's session without validating the supplied password. Exploitation requires the non-default AUTHTYPE webserver setting and a known or guessed username, granting access to privileged administrative endpoints as that account.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
