Application crash via zero-length SPKI buffer read
Published Mar 30, 2026 · Updated Mar 30, 2026
Out-of-bounds heap read in OpenSC before 0.27.0 allows physically proximate attackers to crash applications via a crafted smart card. sc_pkcs15_pubkey_from_spki_fields() copies a zero-length SPKI buffer and tests its first byte without first verifying that the buffer contains data. The attack requires a crafted USB device or smart card, and the vendor bounds the result to a crash or unexpected application behavior.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
