Local privilege escalation via unauthenticated D-Bus methods
Published Jan 14, 2026 · Updated Jan 14, 2026
Incorrect authorization in ShadowBlip InputPlumber before 0.63.0 allows local users to disclose files, exhaust memory, or inject input. The root-privileged InputManager D-Bus service exposes CreateCompositeDevice and CreateTargetDevice without authorization, parsing caller-selected paths and creating a virtual keyboard. Any local account can reach the system bus; injected keystrokes affect only the active login or desktop session, while crafted paths can disclose root-readable data or hang the daemon.
