Stored XSS via HTML-interpreted portlet labels
Published Feb 2, 2026 · Updated Feb 2, 2026
Stored XSS in Wikimedia Foundation Vector allows remote authenticated users to execute script in visitors' browsers through system messages. The 2022 and legacy portlets.js implementations copy a label's textContent into a wrapper's innerHTML, converting previously inert text into executable markup. Exploitation requires high-privilege rights to edit a relevant system message, and the script runs when a visitor loads a page using the affected skin.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
