Stored XSS via unescaped system messages
Published Feb 2, 2026 · Updated Feb 2, 2026
Stored XSS in Wikimedia Foundation MultimediaViewer before 1.39.13, 1.42.7, 1.43.2, and 1.44.0 allows remote attackers to run script. Several UI paths pass localized system messages to DOM HTML sinks through .html() or string concatenation without escaping. A victim must follow a crafted language URL and open an image; injected script then runs in the wiki origin and can read page data available to that session.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
