Root command execution via unauthenticated XPC requests
Published Dec 3, 2025 · Updated Dec 5, 2025
Local privilege escalation in Acustica Audio Aquarius HelperTool 1.0.003 allows local users to execute arbitrary commands as root. The XPC listener accepts every client, AuthorizationCopyRights receives a NULL reference, and executeCommand passes attacker-controlled paths and arguments directly to NSTask. Any unprivileged local process can reach the service, and successful exploitation permits protected-file changes, persistent backdoors, or a root shell.
