Wi-Fi credential disclosure via unencrypted firmware extraction
Published Dec 10, 2025 · Updated Dec 10, 2025
Missing firmware encryption in Meatmeet Pro BBQ Thermometer 1.0.34.4 allows physically proximate attackers to read stored Wi-Fi credentials. The basestation permits its complete flash image to be read over UART while Wi-Fi credentials remain unencrypted in the NVS partition. Physical disassembly and IO9 download-mode access are required; recovered current and previous passwords grant access to the associated Wi-Fi networks.
