Privilege escalation via preserved set-ID bits

Privilege assignment in sd 1.0.0 and earlier allows local users to assume another user's privileges through in-place file replacement. When run through a permissive sudoers rule, sd replaces an attacker-controlled file under the target account while preserving set-user-ID and set-group-ID bits, transferring ownership to that account. Exploitation requires permission to run sd as the target user and a bash-compatible set-ID execution path; Debian and the upstream project classify the condition as a sudoers misconfiguration rather than an sd defect.
