Service crash via missing PFCP NodeID validation
Published Dec 18, 2025 · Updated Dec 18, 2025
Null pointer dereference in omec-project UPF before 2.2.0 allows remote attackers to crash the service with a malformed PFCP request. The handleAssociationSetupRequest function calls NodeID() on a nil Information Element when an Association Setup Request omits the mandatory NodeID, causing a Go panic that terminates the process. Access to the UPF's N4/PFCP endpoint is required, and repeated requests interrupt user-plane services without reported confidentiality or integrity impact.
