Root file overwrite via unfiltered deobfuscation callbacks
Published Dec 12, 2025 · Updated Dec 12, 2025
Eval injection in CloudLinux ai-bolit before 32.7.4-1 allows attackers to overwrite arbitrary files as root via scans of crafted content. The deobfuscateDeltaOrd and deobfuscateEvalHexFunc routines pass function names extracted from scanned data to Helpers::executeWrapper without the safe-function filter, enabling attacker-selected PHP callbacks. Exploitation requires crafted file or database content to reach an enabled scan; default scheduled scans run as root, so successful callbacks can replace security-sensitive files.
