RTSP server crash via freed demux object
Published Dec 1, 2025 · Updated Dec 1, 2025
Use-after-free in Live555 Streaming Media 2018.09.02 allows context-dependent attackers to crash an RTSP server with a crafted MPEG Program stream. MPEG1or2Demux::newElementaryStream() reads a demux object after its destructor has freed the allocation. The crafted stream must be placed on the server and played by a client; the demonstrated consequence is process abort and service interruption.
