CVE-2025-65406Network attack vector

Service crash via unchecked codec-private length arithmetic

Published Dec 1, 2025 · Updated Dec 1, 2025

Heap overflow in Live555 Streaming Media 2018.09.02 allows attackers to crash the service by supplying a crafted MKV file. MatroskaFile::createRTPSinkForTrackNumber allocates 2*codecPrivateSize+1 bytes without checking arithmetic overflow, then writes two hexadecimal characters per codec-private byte with sprintf. Exploitation requires user interaction that makes attacker-supplied MKV content available for streaming; the bounded consequence is a service crash.
