Update interception via disabled TLS certificate verification
Published Dec 10, 2025 · Updated Dec 10, 2025
Improper certificate validation in Aqara hub firmware allows man-in-the-middle attackers to substitute files during HTTPS updates. The start_firmware_http_download function in ha_master creates an OpenSSL context but never enables peer verification or loads trusted CAs, so it accepts any server certificate. The attacker must control the update traffic path; Camera Hub G3 4.1.9_0027, Hub M2 4.3.6_0027, and Hub M3 4.3.6_0025 can then download an attacker-supplied firmware file.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.

Published CVSS scores
CVSS describes severity. EPSS estimates exploitation probability.
Attacks
What attackers are doing with it
Daily unique IPs observed by Shadowserver honeypots for known exploited vulnerabilities (KEVs). Missing observations do not establish an absence of attacks.
Public exploit references
No public exploit references are available in this record.
Labels summarize the accepted research assessment. They do not indicate a test against your environment.
