Root command execution via unescaped adapter name
Published Dec 10, 2025 · Updated Dec 10, 2025
Command injection in Windscribe for Linux Desktop App allows local users in the windscribe group to execute commands as root. The root helper's changeMtu handler passes the adapterName IPC value to Utils::executeCommand, which quotes arguments but fails to escape embedded quotes before invoking a shell. Access to /var/run/windscribe/helper.sock is required; a crafted name terminates the quoted argument and appends shell commands.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
