Root code execution via untrusted program resolution
Published Feb 3, 2026 · Updated Feb 3, 2026
Untrusted search path handling in Lexmark Embedded Solutions Framework firmware allows local users to execute arbitrary code as root. The esfhelper binary executes a program from an untrusted location instead of restricting resolution to a trusted path. ZDI requires prior low-privileged code execution on the device, while Lexmark assesses an unauthenticated network path to arbitrary code execution.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
