Alert-handler execution via exposed SSH private keys
Published Dec 18, 2025 · Updated Dec 18, 2025
Information disclosure in Checkmk 2.3.0 and 2.4.0 before 2.4.0p18 allows remote authenticated users to obtain SSH private keys. The Remote alert handlers (Linux) rule embeds its SSH private key in the rule page's HTML source instead of removing the secret before rendering. A configured rule and low-privileged Checkmk account are required; the key can trigger only the handlers fixed in each affected host's authorized_keys file.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
