Improper authentication in affected ZITADEL releases allows remote attackers to take over federated accounts through IdP auto-linking. The IdP callback auto-links an external identity to a matching internal user without enforcing the target organization's allowExternalIdp setting or confirming that the instance-level IdP is active for that organization. Exploitation requires attacker control of an instance-level IdP and a matching account without MFA; successful linking grants that account's access.
