Raw disk access via NULL volume DACL
Published Dec 31, 2025 · Updated Dec 31, 2025
Incorrect access control in SevenCs ORCA G2 2.0.1.35 allows local users to read or modify raw disk data through an unprotected volume device. The SYSTEM-level regService applies DACL_SECURITY_INFORMATION to the Windows volume device without first adding a DACL to its security descriptor, producing a NULL DACL that grants broad access. A standard local account must trigger the named-pipe request path; subsequent raw reads expose protected data, while raw writes can corrupt disk structures and interrupt the system.
