Local privilege escalation via heap buffer overflow
Published Dec 9, 2025 · Updated Apr 16, 2026
Heap-based buffer overflow in Microsoft Windows DWM Core Library allows local users with low privileges to elevate privileges locally. Microsoft identifies the heap overwrite but has not published the input path, affected function, or incorrect allocation or copy operation. Exploitation requires low-privileged local code execution without user interaction and can elevate the attacker to a higher-privileged Windows security context.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
