CVE-2025-64517

Privilege escalation via misbound authentication timestamps

Published Nov 12, 2025 · Updated Nov 12, 2025

Improper authentication in sudo-rs 0.2.5 through 0.2.9 allows local users to execute permitted commands as other accounts. The timestamp pipeline writes and matches the invoking user's UID rather than the authenticated-as user's UID, so one valid record is reused across target users. Exploitation requires targetpw or rootpw, an unexpired same-terminal timestamp, high sudo privileges, and one permitted target account password.
