Host root escalation via traversable shifted volume
Published Nov 10, 2025 · Updated Nov 10, 2025
Privilege escalation in Linux Containers Incus allows local users with container and host access to gain root on the host system. Incus leaves storage-pool paths traversable, exposing a setuid-root binary written from a container to a shifted custom volume. Exploitation requires root inside the attached container, unprivileged host access, security.shifted=true, and supporting kernel and file-system behavior.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
