Subscriber-level code execution via unchecked plugin installation
Published Dec 18, 2025 · Updated Dec 18, 2025
Arbitrary plugin installation in StylemixThemes Motors 5.6.81 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to execute code. The mvl_theme_install_base AJAX handler accepts an attacker-controlled plugin URL and installs and activates its code after checking only a nonce, without a capability check. Subscriber-level access exposes the nonce and is sufficient to run malicious plugin code and take over the WordPress site.
