External app launch via onblur prompt bypass
Published Jun 24, 2025 · Updated Apr 13, 2026
Improper authorization in Mozilla Firefox for Android before 140 allows remote attackers to launch external apps through crafted links. A window.onblur handler dispatches an Android intent while Firefox continues loading before awaiting the app-link prompt response, suppressing the confirmation dialog. A remote attacker must lure a user to a crafted page and induce a tap on a normal browser control; the resulting intent opens an installed external app without consent.
