Phishing redirects via query parameter fallback
Published Jun 24, 2025 · Updated Apr 13, 2026
Open redirect in Mozilla Firefox for Android before 140 allows remote attackers to send users to an attacker-controlled site through a crafted URL. AppLinksUseCases.getHierarchicalUrl treated the untrusted afl or link query parameter as a fallback URL when an external app could not handle the original URL. Exploitation requires a user to open or tap the crafted link, after which the apparent destination domain can differ from the site Firefox loads, enabling phishing.
