CVE-2025-64170

Partial password disclosure via canonical-mode timeout

Published Nov 12, 2025 · Updated Nov 12, 2025

Password masking failure in Trifecta Tech Foundation sudo-rs 0.2.7 through 0.2.9 allows physically proximate attackers to view partial passwords. In src/pam/rpassword.rs, HiddenInput left ICANON enabled without pwfeedback, so timed-out bytes remained queued and echoed after terminal settings were restored. The condition requires a user to type without pressing Return until the default five-minute timeout; disclosure is limited to the queued partial password on the terminal or in shell history.
