Format string injection in Fortinet FortiOS allows attackers with administrative access to execute unauthorized code or commands through configuration. CAPWAP fast-failover mode treats attacker-controlled configuration text as a format string rather than fixed data; Fortinet has not named the affected function or daemon. Exploitation requires high-privileged administrative access and can run code or commands in the FortiOS context without further user interaction.
