CVE-2025-64108Network attack vector

Code execution via unnormalized NTFS path aliases

Published Nov 4, 2025 · Updated Nov 4, 2025

Path traversal in Anysphere Cursor 1.7.44 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to overwrite protected files on NTFS systems. Sensitive-path detection evaluates NTFS short-path and alternate-data-stream syntax without first normalizing the supplied path, so aliases evade the approval guardrail. Exploitation requires prompt injection or a malicious model attachment; writes to certain protected files grant code execution in the Cursor user's context.
