Session hijacking via untrusted password-reset Host header
Published Nov 18, 2025 · Updated Nov 19, 2025
Host header injection in Backdrop CMS 1.32.1 allows remote attackers to redirect password-reset users to an attacker-controlled domain. The password-reset response builds its Location header and cookie domain from the untrusted Host header without checking the configured site origin. A targeted user must follow the poisoned reset flow, which redirects the browser and sets an attacker-domain cookie used for session hijacking.
